A couple of WordPress related sites you might be interested in:

WordPress MU
WordPress MU is a new multi user version of WordPress. I found the site few weeks ago and it looks pretty interesting. I am yet to download and experiment with it, but essentially it is for building communities blogs, blogs about niche subject, clubs, schools etc.

bbPress
The makers of wordpress have also created their own bulletin board software bbPress which they claim is focused on web standards, ease of use, ease of integration, and speed. bbPress can be integrated with WordPress its definitely worth looking at. I have previously used phpBB but with no coding knowledge found it incredibly difficult to try and make it user friendly for search engines.

I hope to have a bit experiment with both of these soon so will report back. If anyone else has tried please feel free to share what you thought of them.

bbPress sounds intriguing. I’ll certainly be interested in that software release. I currently maintain a phpBB forum for the local running club and it’s almost turned into a full time job just to maintain it. The amount of spam it attracts is astonishing.

    Thanks for the heads-up,

I downloaded bbPress to give it a trial run about 6 months ago, and after stumbling through the installation a little bit, I thought it had a very nice [clean] interface. Very vanilla. I intended to write up a review on it but just never made it that far. *sigh* I think if I ever launch a forum I’ll probably stick with it over phpBB, though I like that too. The integration with WP is just such a nice kicker.

Thanks Charity, good to hear your feedback. If you ever decide to write a review I would be interested in reading it.
