A little while a go I read about an extension which could be useful if you know how to use dreamweaver and want to use it to adapt wordpress templates. The extension is called Themedreamer and allows you to open wordpress templates from within Dreamweaver by temporarily replacing the dynamic content with text. You don’t even need to set up a local server according to the feature list.
ThemeDreamer is an extension for Adobe Dreamweaver that can accelerate WordPress theme and application development by providing WYSIWYG (What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get) feedback within Dreamweaver’s Design View editor in real time. Simply put, you do not need to mess with a server or even have to upload your files to see the vast majority of CSS and WordPress Template layout changes. Alterations are immediately reflected within Dreamweaver’s Design View.
You can watch a few videos to see how the extension works.
There is a free trial you can download which gives you 15 days trial use. I downloaded it to try out, then got busy and didn’t get chance to try it properly, so I think I will purchase it soon (only $29.95) and give it a proper try out. If anyone else has tried it I would love to hear how you get on.

Really cool! I never knew about this!
I also didn’t know about this but will check it out because it could be quite useful for me. Thanks for the tip, Tara.
Thanks for the pointer – this is a really interesting plugin. Will have to give it a whirl when setting up my work’s blog!
Yes Tara! you do it again, this looks like a little beauty thanks for revealing this little but powerful app.
Take care
Mali
Wow! Awesome to hear about this. Stumbled it! Thanks for the info.
Hi Everyone, thanks for your comments, please let me know how you get on.
Bas – thanks for the stumble
Hmmm…this is very interesting.
I have to admit that making changes to my templates, uploading them live, seeing that it’s not exactly what I want, and then repeating the process numerous times before I am satisfied is a bit of a pain.
This product is definitely worth looking into.
This looks really good. I have to agree with Drew, uploading and then testing is very time consuming so it would be good to work on a local copy.
I shall have a look when I get chance.
Steve
that looks brillant, i’ve recently started looking into learning wordpress and this could be a big help. thanks for the link =)
I’ve been using ThemeDreamer for a couple of months now and it’s a very useful extension. Drew hit the nail on the head with the time wasted testing your theme changes. ThemeDreamer really works well for WYSIWYG editing of WordPress themes. I have a theme called SoulVision that I created with ThemeDreamer available for preview here.
All my themes from this point on will be created using ThemeDreamer for the simple fact that it’s a major time saver and there’s nothing else like it available.
This extension for Dreamweaver makes it much easier to build sites, and you can save much time. so I’m looking forward to buy this extension soon. I really think that this could help me.
That’s a great plugin. especially for an advance blogger. And I use Dreamweaver for my development, so it will make it easier to develop my blogs using my editor.
Thank you,
This looks like a really good idea. I have only just started using wordpress but this makes sense, so I would be able to design my own layouts instead of having to use set templates.
Thank You. You are so kind. This tip is extremely useful for me
Wow, we here are not big users of dreamweaver, but this may cause us to change. Thanks!

Thanks for giving the information. Its very useful to me. Do you have more information or details about ThemeDreamer?
Just wanted to let everyone know that a new release of version 0.4.1 has been released with CS4 support. Be sure to the install instructions and Mac OS X users may need to make the toolbar visible (View->Toolbars->ThemeDreamer) as it appears to not be turned on after install for some users.
Enjoy!
Thank you so much for the article. This is gonna save me a ton of time.
What a great plugin for Dreamweaver! I have been wanting to migrate to WordPress from CMS made simple for several months but because of the hassle of creating a template for WordPress I just never got around to it. Although this plugin seems to work quite slow, I’m sure it is doing a lot behind the scenes and I’m pretty certain it is going to assist me in my first venture into using WordPress – as a content management system may I add! Anyway, thankyou Tara – I never knew such a useful DW plugin existed.
I’m sure you have tried designing a WordPress theme in Dreamweaver, you know it’s not very easy and the workflow is rather repetitive. Even with a local WordPress installation. But the themes do look pretty impressive though..
that looks brillant, i’ve recently started looking into learning wordpress and this could be a big help.
Ya, it is a realy cool extension Themedreamer. I used it already. Another very good program for cms-templates is called Artisteer, it is even better.
Hey, I’m relatively new to wordpress and haven’t built a custom template yet. Themedreamer looks great and pretty cheap too. I’ve got a fealling this will save a load of time and hastle. Looking forward to getting my teeth into designing a custom template with it.

Hi I just got the Themedreamer a Dreamweaver WordPress Extension.
It’s fantastic and saves lots of time.
Tool is very easy to use and producing great results as required.
Thanks a ton Tara.
Hello,I was wondering if anyone knew of a place online to teach me the theme from the Dreamworks movie “Dreamer” with Dakota Fanning. It has a really pretty piano and violin in it. If you know of a place with that sheet music or a video to show me, that would be great! Thanks!
That’s pretty slick, I’m surprised I’ve never heard of it before…thanks for posting it!
Do you know if it will work for older version of DW? Like DW4? I would love to start making my own custom blog templates!
Yes This does indeed look like a really good idea. I have only just started using wordpress but this makes sense, so I would be able to design my own layouts instead of having to use set templates.
I have already set up a local testing environment using XAMPP, but always have problems telling Dreamweaver where the server is.. and it takes time to sort it all out.
This extension looks like just the sort of thing I need.
Lots of positive feedback in the comments… anybody using it with dreamweaver 8? Or are you all up to date with CS4?
I have used artisteer to make wordpress themes but i think i am going to try this one out. Thanks for info
