New Theme Sorry For Any Problems

Share

As you may have noticed I have a new theme in place. Sorry if this has caused you any problems on the site today. Being the CSS dummy that I am, I got as far with the theme as I could on a test site, but then had to bring in someone to sort out bits I couldn’t work out. There are still a few things not quite right but hopefully these will be sorted soon. Thanks for your patience.

There may be a few switches between the new and old theme while glitches are sorted out.

The menu lists over to the right look much better. Perfect little details make a big difference!

    Hi Santosh

No, you were right it wasn’t the Vodka :)

As I said on the test site, I really like the new theme – you’ve done a great job of customising the theme!

I’ve considered Leia for a couple of blogs recently, so I know how much work you’ve done – so I refuse to hear your claims that you can’t do CSS any more, when you obviously can! ;)

Hi Paul, thanks but I only did some of it, I had to bring in an expert for centering and trying to get the plugins not clashing (and to tidy up my CSS). She is still trying to sort out problems with commenting at the moment, so there will be a bit of switching between old and new theme.

It’s looking good Tara. Like the three columns and nice cleaner header graphic. A good improvement. :)

The site looks very nice, clean and simple.

Like Paul, I know how many changes are needed to get from the original theme to what you have, so great work (even if you didn’t do it all it’s still what you wanted).

I’ve been looking into a new layout for a while now.

    Hi David,

It is so hard to find a nice theme as a base. Every time I looked, one of the best themes is one that you are using, which I didn’t want to copy (but I really like yours). I wish there were more simple templates about, some just have way too fancy navigation for my taste. Have you seen the list of 83 beautiful wordpress themes you probably haven’t seen over at Smashing Magazine?

I really like the Vertigo theme, but I think that after a while it’s easy to become bored in a way. I would’ve been delighted if you were to have chosen the same theme to work from!

One I’m really liking at the minute is the Grid Focus theme by Derek Punsalan, used effectively by Johno.

Thanks for that link. I think I’ve looked at that post but won’t hurt to take another jook.

Yes, Johno’s site looks great, I haven’t looked at the non customised theme though. I will take a look.

I love the header! I looks better, but the previous one also looked good.

I like your blog’s new design very much, especially the orange accents and the little details, like the number of comments/categories box placed at the bottom of the post – no need to scroll up to click and read the comments.

Thanks Vivien, I had to remove the ajax comments as it clashed which was a shame.

  22. Posted June 13, 2007 at 11:20 pm | Permalink

That’s too bad. I’ll ask plugin’s author to look into it.

Loving the new look Tara. I haven’t been here in a while, so I didn’t know, but it’s definately an improvement. I love your logo too.
