New Book available on Freelancing

Written by Tara: Freelance Designer on Saturday, 22 of December , 2007 at 9:00 am

freelance design bookI found out Freelance Switch have produced a new book on freelancing “How to be a Rock Star Freelancer” via Charity at Design Adaptations

I haven’t read the book but according to the Freelance switch site:
“Weighing in at 212 pages, this is the essential guide to Freelancing. It covers topics like Getting Started, Getting Your First Jobs, Scoping & Timeframes, Project Management, Pricing, Marketing and Building a Business.”

Freelance Switch is an excellent site full of information for freelance designers and I am sure the book will be just as good. It’s available as a PDF ebook for $29 and will be available in printed format from Lulu in January

Hey thanks for the mention Tara. I haven’t got far into the book yet, but so far it’s easy reading and has already brought some points to mind I hadn’t thought of before.

Anyway have a Merry Christmas and a happy holiday season!

Wow I’ve seen this eBook everywhere. It must be good, or the FreelanceSwitch guys have really good marketing. But then again, that is part of what the book is about so yes. It’s got to be a good read!

Thanks for the recommendation, I’ll be sure to try it.
Also just finished reading another ebook featured on freelanceswitch.com, The Freelance Designer’s Self-Marketing Handbook - available at www.marketing-designers.com. Also a PDF, slightly cheaper but not quite so long. Nonetheless, some good tips for structuring your website, writing ads and press releases, cold calling, etc. Recommend it. Happy New Year y’all.

I think this would definitely be worth reading. I’m planning on starting as a freelancer myself next year so this could really be helpfull.

Cool link, thanks! I’ll have to look into it/possibly buy it lol. The whole series though sounds like it should be good.

Thanks for the information. I’m currently looking for a guide that could help me on how to start doing a freelance especially for designers. This is absolutely what I need to start my job. This Freelance Switch could help with me a lot.

I wrote of a review of the book at my web site. Thanks for the information Tara so I could review this quickly for everyone on the web! I was very disappointed by the book but I did mention alternatives at the review.
