Thanks for this guest post from Pawel – it is interesting indeed how sometimes we have to change the way our “product” is presented in order to be able to sell it. Oftentimes our view of the product, in this case a website, is very different from how the client views it, and if we just adjust the message, they’ll relate to it that much more easily. While I cannot state my personal opinion in this regard, one thing I must say is that several of my friends have earned big fortunes by flipping their websites and blogs. What is more, some of them actually build websites just to flip! I totally agree with you that people these days want everything cooked and served hot to them on a silver platter, so no wonder that a ready-made site sells like hot cakes!

I found this to be a very useful article. I trained as a web designer at university. I have been working as a freelance web designer for a while now, but I am trying to get a design agency up and running on the Isle of Man with a friend of mine who is a graphic designer.

He has a lot of experience with print design, but very little web design experience. I think I’ll pass this article on to him.

A vital skill when creating web sights is search engine optimisation. You can be the worlds greatest designer but if you do not no how to optimize the sight to get a good page ranking you are going to get nowhere.

This article is very impressively written. I have been doing design for 15 years and so many graphic designer forget to understand when it comes to the net- the code needs to be considered within the design. Ok maybe I’m getting in over my head- but designing with flash does no good for a sites ranking and ability to get traffic and customers- but to add a splash of flash is sheer beauty and soothing to the customer!
