Graffiti without the Guilt
Written by Tara: Freelance Designer on Monday, 28 of May , 2007 at 4:07 pm

Some graffiti is truly art, other is just plain destruction, but have you ever fancied showing off your artistic skills or lack of them, maybe on a London Bus or City Wall? I came across a site called www.zewall.com yesterday where you can do just that. You choose where you want to paint - from a London bus, to a brick wall to the Roofs of Paris, pick your spot and spray away with an online spray can. I tried my hand at it, I was going to try a little blog advert, but my results were too bad to save. So if you’re bored at work or stuck inside on this rainy bank holiday in the UK have a go.
Don’t forget if you get a minute too to have a go at the “Do Designers Think Alike Experiment.” I will upload my logos tomorrow and hope you will too.

On the subject of graffiti without guilt, there is always the practise of reverse graffiti where you take a scrubbing brush and a bucket of water and ‘clean’ your message into a suitably dirty surface. Kind of an artistic equivelant of writing “Clean me” on the back of a mucky transit.

Found this too late to edit into my original post but here is an example of reverse graffiti…

What a good idea. My favourite graffiti artist is without a doubt Banksy. Brilliantly talented and though-provoking.
