Hi there! I completely agree that those portfolio website 's sometimes don't get you work... I get some jobs through www.freelancers.net, i have my CV and portfolio on Monster's website which i have been contacted through a few times, Coroflot.com , portfolios.com, i also have my work showcased on my myspace which also has got me alot of smaller work like logos and flyers. tshirt designs ect.

Also there's some sites such as istockphoto.com, which if your into illustration, you can sell them on there, aswell as your photos.

Also clickforart.com is a site that showcasing and sells your imagery as canvas. and you obveously get your share of the money.

There is lots of things i have done to get work, and
you basically just need to make sure you get your work on as many sites as possible.

Also enter graphic design competitions on graphiccompetitions.com , and that also can help get jobs.

hope that might help?

Great points you bring up. I think it's interesting that you get alot of work from freelancer sites. What kind of sites are you talking about, as I have gotten the feeling that most people haven't had too much luck with these sites. I have personally gotten a network from freelance forums, and I get steady work from them, but have never gotten work from those job listings and such. Could you tell us abit more about how you go about doing this.
