If you speak in design terms to a non designer they think you’re mad. “What’s a widow then?” asked one of my clients when I spotted one in a document. Then there’s visies or comps, bleed, trapping it’s a language all of its own.
If you think you know your design terms take a look at at the slightly unusual flash quiz find the 25 design terms and waste 15 minutes when you should have been doing that job you keep putting off .
Cool flash movie, I had them all but one, and I can’t find it [#23]. It’s funny to see that some terms are the same in Dutch or slightly different but related. There are a few I haven’t heard off, so good practise to me as well
It took me a second try (I was too busy reading the descriptions!), but nicely challenging! What a wonderful and entertaining learning tool. It’s amazing how much you can learn when you’re just having fun! Thanks, Tara, for finding and sharing it.

HAHA…I am a bad designer..
I lost.
Couldn’t find number 8. Nice find though, Tara.
Hi everyone, I’m glad you all had a go.
Hi David
No 8 is Tombstoning, which I had never heard of, apparently means “when two or more headinds are in the same horizontal position on the page.
Hi Tess
23 is knot, I hadn’t heard of his one either “the point where connected curves join.
Hi Reds
12 is slug (corner of pavement) meaning “a heading which stays in the same position in each issue of the publication.
Thanks for that, Tara.
There were quite a few I wasn’t familiar with, but managed to find them blindly.
Done it! Admittedly it was my third attempt! It’s so very clever!

Just found your site today and have been pouring over your freelance entries. Lots of great ideas. Thank you so much.
Also just wanted to say that my company also made a post on this game. I definitely enjoyed it and glad to see it randomly show up here too.
Keep up the good work!
