Hmm! I agree with a detailed guideline, however a summary document can supplement and be used as a ready reckoner. There is way too many legislations in the modern world to enable a 2-3 page document.

Wow, thats quite a long list! I never knew that corporate identity guidelines can be as long as 24 pages! I had been following David Airey's blogs but designers talk was new to me. Thanks a lot.

Great resources and PDF files there should give any designer a heads up when it comes to designing for very corporate customers.

Graphic standards are a way for companies to guard their brands. I completely understand a corporation having a 20 page manual when they've put millions behind building equity in the logo or mark.

For most companies 4-6 pages works well, but in some instances, and for companies with several sub-marks, it can be quite an extensive project.

I had been working for a free lancer for quite some time now and was thinking of putting my self under a company of my own and this article has really helped me with all the things-to-do for a company startup... thanks.

Maybe I'm just ignorant, but I never really thought a logo is the key to branding. If you have good PR, the logo will automatically get brand itself. It does help, naturally I don't want to put down your profession because I believe it is important, but a lot of companies fall into the mistake of thinking a nice logo will solve their branding problem.
