Big List of Cheap Photo Sites for your Designs

First I would like to apologise for my lack of posts this week, things have been a little hectic as i have been down in London at an exhibition for three days with my character designs. I will write a bit more about this next week when I have had time to collect my thoughts and forget about my aching legs from standing up all day.

This is just a quick post to let you know about a site I found called Powstock which has a large list of Free and Cheap, Royalty Free image sites. I don’t know about you, but I have regular photo libraries that I use, but every now and then there is an elusive image that you just can’t find and you have to widen your search to different sites. The suggested photo search engines and blogs could come in handy too. There are so many sites listed here that at least one must have an image that you are looking for.

    Hi Tara

That is a great list of sites on Pow. Nice find. Another one that I use is Blue Vertigo. http://www.bluevertigo.com.ar/bluevertigo.htm .

It’s a similar idea but also includes stock photography, fonts, vector clipart, brushes and more!

Cool, thanks for the two links, ladies! Tara, would you elaborate a little more on the “regular photo libraries” you use? Are they a set of CDs you purchased or are they online stock sites? Maybe you can include those with your post on the subscription sites. Have you had many responses for that? I’m looking forward to seeing what resources others have.

Hi Lauren – I was planning to talk about the stock sites I use most in that exact future post you are talking about :) . At the moment I have only had two responses from yourself (thank you) and one other person. I am not sure if everyone is too shy/busy to email me ;) or if not that many people use subscription based images?

Tara, I would guess not many people use the subscriptions (or maybe not too many actually exist!). I think most people use pay as you go, like iStockPhoto. I would go ahead and publish that article with just the two reviews and maybe some more will stop by and comment. Just tell everyone that you didn’t get a high level of response and if others have used the subscriptions to just give a mini review in the comments :) Looking forward to it!

Hi Lauren, I think you could be right. I have had someone else contact me so I will wait a while and see if they come back with anything.
